Up on the roof top (down by the woods)

Monday

After an early morning and speed reading my blogs and email I headed outside.  I got out the Simple Green, TSP, and rags and buckets.  Then I moved the ladder down to the RV and thought I would clean as much of the roof as I could reach from the ladder.  The cleaning was going good so I did what I said I would not do.  I got clean water and go up on the roof and no one else was home.  I did most of the work while on my knees and stayed away from the edges.  My concern was standing and scrubbing the roof with soap making it slippery and falling off the roof.  So I just did it the old way on my hands and knees, which seemed pretty safe.  So its about 60% done and I hope to finish tomorrow since the weather is dry, sunny and somewhat cool.  I have even asked my daughter to come out and help keep an eye on me.  If all goes well I could even get the Kool Seal on the seams.  I found a couple spots today and put the Eternabond tape to seal the small cracks.

Now time to listen to a couple podcasts and then off to court.

Tuesday

Busy day ahead so I have to hurry this morning.
After a quick breakfast this morning I headed out to try to finish the cleaning of the MH roof.  No such luck, it was all wet (slippery) from the overnight dew.  So I got what I could from the edges and redid the one joint with eternabond tape.
Cleaning tools

The wet roof hard to tell

Before on the left After on the right

I gathered the trash and loaded it into the truck to take out to the road.  Then it was off to the bank and post office for court with a quick stop at court.  It was already noon and I needed to be in Batavia at noon.  So I quick headed for Batavia for the NARFE meeting planning to give my rep or on Medicare.  Nope it was a picnic so we put the report off for 2 months as I will be at the Magistrates Conference next month.  Then back home and up on the roof again and this time I finished the cleaning.  If the weather looks good I will Kool Seal the seams tomorrow.

Phone call now they are delivering new furniture tomorrow between 11 and 1, prime roof sealing weather.

Now we are heading to WW in East Aurora.  Came right home as Elizabeth and Alexus had high school orientation, wow high school already.

Wednesday

Up early today and back in my routine of reading blogs and email.  We are to get a furniture delivery today and Elizabeth and Alexus are coming to help me work on the MH.
The furniture came a little early which was good.
New couch

New chair they are the same color
Emily approves of the new couch
Got the seams all coated with the Kool Seal

One more coat to do tomorrow if it does not rain
Then I helped Alexus sand her dresser project as she wants to paint it all white.

The dresser project

Busy sanding in the shade now
Well another big move tonight.  When Bonnie got home we headed in to West Seneca to look at a new car.  We have been wanting a car that we can flat tow behind the MH.  So after much research we decided to look at Honda CR-Vs.  Well we did get to look at a couple but they are already sold.  In fact most are sold before they ever get to the dealer.  So we decided on an Opal Green one that is due into the dealer on Sept 11th.  These are built both in Japan and in the US.  The one we have our name on was built in Japan.  If the dealer can find one to trade for we could get it sooner.  So now I am researching Tow Bars, Base Plates, supplemental brakes and lighting kits.  Then we will be closer to being ready to tour the USA.
Opal Sage I think we have different wheels
Rain is in the air for tomorrow.
Time to post this
Thanks for checking in.

Moving Day

Thursday

Well today started just before midnight for me.  I was about into bed when I got called to court for an arraignment.  I got to bed then about 10am and did sleep in until 10am.  Then as is my routine I washed the towels today and read blogs and podcasts.
My water pressure regulator came via the post office today so I checked it out.  I have been reading of the problems high pressure in some campgrounds can cause in a MH.

Then I called around and found the Kool Seal

to repair the roof seams on the MH in Attica at Ace Hardware so I drove over to pick it up and the phone was ringing when I got home.  Back up to court to fix some paperwork and then home for a bit to eat.

Now we are headed into Elizabeths to paint and install the over range microwave.

This is the space where the Microwave is to fit.

Wow they have a lot to finish before Saturday when she moves in.

They replaced the from wall board and windows

Just clean up over here

New windows are nice and big

Stove needs cleaned and some repairs
They are also still working on the roof.

Once they finish the front they are to tear off and replace the back roof also.  I think the roof will get done after she moves in.

We did deliver the two shelves she had stored in our garage.  Tomorrow we will move more.

Shelves in the back of my truck.
I did get the microwave installed

I guess this qualifies as another busy day.

Friday

Friday was not too busy of a day I guess.  I did get the laundry done and watched a couple podcasts.
Then I headed up to court for a few hours.  I have not really felt very good today.
Then when Bonnie got home she headed into Elizabeths new place and cleaned a little.  They got a lot done and the place seems ready to move into.  Not everything is done but they are getting close.

Saturday

Today is the memorial service for my Uncle Johnny in Pitcarin, PA.  With Elizabeth's move we were not able to go.  I can not be there physically but have plenty of good memories that keep coming to mind today.

We left here about 9am and I dropped Bonnie off at the new place and I headed to the old place for a load of furniture and the refrigerator.
All loaded up
At least 10 people from Elizabeth's church came out to help so the move went pretty quickly, thanks everyone.
Lots of people and trucks and SUV's

Everyone took a load
We even had enough help and a flat trailer and we were able to move her Rubbermaid shed with out any damage.

Notice the front of the roof on the house is all shingled
Came home and got a nice hot shower, then a nice nap.
This evening is NASCAR and keeping track of friends in the path of IRENE, stay safe my friends.

Sunday

Up this morning and we headed for church.  We needed a printer to print Sunday School material so I got that set up today.  Then after church we went out to eat with some friends from church and Jeff H.  He is a missionary with SCORE and heads up the trip that Bonnie and others from church go on to the Dominican Republic in January.  We went to the Prospector in Attica and wow we saw lots of friends from church having their Sunday Dinner.

We got home changed clothes and headed in to Elizabeths new place.  She has been busy and got a lot unpacked.  But it has made her tired and cranky, but I guess that is to be expected.  Her new neighbor brought over their carpet cleaner and Bonnie cleaned the upstairs carpets and the couches.  I worked on figuring out how to program the keypad and Elizabeths car to open and close the garage door.  Seems the remote for the door is lost.  I finally figured it all out and now it works.  The contractor was there also and replaced 8 sheets of sheathing on the roof today and much more to do.

We grilled some bratwurst, Elizabeth made potatoes and greens which we all had for supper.
Finally got home just after dark.

We have heard from most of our family and friends that were near or in the path of the hurricane, all are safe and sound and had little or no damage.  We are thankful for that.

Thats about it for this week, Thanks for Checking in.

Lots of Grass to Cut

Monday

I was determined to sleep in this morning, but that did not happen.  I heard Bonnie leave for work and rolled over but never got back to sleep.  The big reason for that was I had a treat waiting for me.  A very special young lady had given me a box of Dunkin Donuts K-Cups for my Keurig coffee maker.  Having a cup of that was all that was on my mind when I woke up.

And yes it was delicious, thanks again Caroline.

Its overcast this morning and nice and cool.  I wanted to start cutting the grass but instead stayed in and washed the clothes from the trip.  We did the sheets and towels last night.  I also need to clean the MH inside and do a little maintenance on the tank flush system, it seems to be plugged up.

Finally got outside and moved the patio carpet we use camping and put it up across our garden cart to dry.
One of the things that got soaked yesterday (finally dried)
Then it was time to work on the coach.  Behind door number 3 is the propane tank and a black plastic panel.
And behind that panel is some insulation and then the ends of the black sewer tank, the black tank on the right is for grey water, and the bottom white tank is the fresh water.  I have already removed the flusher fitting that is at the end of the blue per pipe.  The small holes in it were plugged up.  So I drilled them out a little larger and will see how that works.  It only took about an hour or so and was not that stinky.

After that I jumped on the John Deere and cut the front grass and along the sides of the driveway, including out by the road.  Now a quick shower and I will head up for court.  I checked the warranty companies web site and my account says they have approved a lot of my motel, car, and food expenses so thats good news.

Tuesday

Pretty boring day today until about 1:51pm.  I got up and read and researched some stuff on the web.  Watched a few podcasts and then headed outside.  I jumped on the mower again and cut the back yard it was a lot longer than I thought.

Then I got a call from my SIL.  She was changing propane suppliers this year as she is getting a furnace and found a good deal for the first year.  She got a call from her current supplier who also supplies us and her parents.  He offered her the same price as the promotional price her new supplier was offering and extended that price to us and her parents.  What great news as the price of propane has gone way up.

Then I headed to the bank and had just parked at 1:51pm.  My truck started shaking, I thought someone was pushing on it as a joke, I could not see anyone so thought the engine was running rough, shut that off and it was still shaking, must be the wind.  When I went in the bank the girls were all talking about the shaking and how long it had lasted.  Then it hit me, earthquake.  We have felt several here in WNY this year.  This one was way down in Virginia, wow.  I tried to call some friends down there but just got voicemail.  I see some comments from others in the area on Facebook so think they will be ok.

Bonnie has a dentist appointment and then we head in for WW and dinner at Elizabeths.  I heard from our friends in Virginia and all is well.  After dinner I went in to the Apple store and picked up a new Airport Extreme.

It was simple to set up and every thing is working great.  I walked through Best Buy on the way out and they had a 2TB hard drive on sale so I picked it up also.

I reformatted it for MAC but since it is so big I think I will reformat it with 2 partitions one for MAC and One for Windows.

Wednesday

I was up until 1am, thanks Tim Horton, but got a good nights rest and was up before 8am.  First the sun was out and then it would cloud up, with the threat of storms today I did not know what to do.  I did change the format on the 2TB hard drive and started to move all my photos to it as a second back up.  The new WiFi router is working well and seems much faster than the older NetGear one it replaced.  After catching up on my reading I headed outside to spray weed killer.  But then it clouded up again.  I got the ladder out to check the MH roof again and see if my plan to fix the seams will work.  I tried to scrape off some of the sealant and I do not think that is going to work.  So I have to decide if I will use plan B.  Which would be to use Cool Seal over the silver tape that still seems to be in good shape other than the white coating peeling off of it.

Then I decided to do some weed whacking.  So I swapped out the string trimmer for the blade and loaded up the Ranger.
The installed blade
Ready to head out to the road
The enemy The weeds

Defeated weeds

Did all the way to the property line
Hit the shower after that and watched a little TV.  Bonnie brought fresh corn home for supper and we had that with grilled chicken and cole slaw, a great dinner.

Now we are catching up on recorded programs so I will get this posted.

Thanks for checking in.

Load em up, Head out its time to go camping again!!

Thursday

Up a biit early I have to be at the eye Dr at 10:10. I stopped to check on some tires that Bonnie had found but they were the wrong size.  Her Subaru takes 255/55/R18 tires and they are expensive.  If you know of a place to get a good price let me know.  Then I stopped at Tractor Supply and picked up 6 bags of solar salt for our water softener.  Still made it on time to the eye Dr.  my eyes are in good shape slight change to my RX so I need to visit an optometrist when I get a little time.  Then I stopped by the county 911 center to visit the folks I used to work with.  One last stop at the furniture store to look at a couch Bonnie likes.  Finally headed home and taking it easy.  They dilated my eyes and the sun is bright today, so will stay in till the sun goes down and then I can load up the MH for the trip tomorrow.

Once Bonnie got home we ate supper and then I loaded our clothes and food into the MH for the weekend.    The plan is to head to Jamestown around noon tomorrow, it will be good to see our friends from Chapter 12.  The weather forecast looks good and Bonnie's sister is joining us tomorrow night.  I ran up to court and took care of some paperwork and put the new sensors in the shredder and that is working now.  Just some wash to do and we are ready for a fun weekend.

Friday

Another early start to the day up at 7:20am.  Started a load of wash and now at 10:30 the last load is almost done.  I took a few last minute things to the MH and so we should be ready to go when Bonnie gets home. The weather is perfect and Bonnie likes the campground where we go because the creek that runs through it is full of fossils.

Bonnie was home at about 20 after noon and we were headed South by 12:40.  It started to rain as we left the driveway and within minutes we had thunder, lightning, and hail.  Thankfully it only lasted about a half mile and then it ended and soon the roads were dry again.  We had an uneventful trip and pulled in the the Hidden Valley Camping Area about 3pm.
Had to get a shot of this after dark
Most of the others were already here and set up already.  It was jus about happy hour so I set up the coach and leveled it as best I could and then joined the others for a nice time of visiting.
We are the second from the left

We had a brief sun shower but there was room under the awnings and front of the fifth wheels for everyone to stay dry.

Bonnie's sister Carol arrived just about 5:00 to stay with us for the weekend.

We have at least 10 rigs here and before long it was time to head to the Nic-L-In for dinner.  But not before we were able to tour the Pitts new Endeavor, what a beautiful coach.  The Schwain's truck was also in the campground so I picked up some ice-cream for dessert later.  So off to dinner, it poured rain as we arrived there, bummer as two of our group were on their Harley.  But the sun was shinning when we left for the campground after dinner.  Everyone enjoyed their meals and said the food was good.

Once back at our coach a campfire was soon started and most gathered around that for catching up on what everyone had done for the summer.  A few went to the Casino and a few retired for the evening.  Norm and I stuck it out till after 11 when the fire died down and then headed for our Homes on Wheels.

We had a great day and it was made better by seeing all our camping friends and meeting a couple new ones.

Saturday

Had a great nights sleep and up and ready to start the day at 7:30.  Breakfast at 8:30.
What a great breakfast, I think we have about 23 folks here at the campout.
Anxiously waiting

Plenty of eggs, biscuits, gravy, juice, and cantaloupe.

Table eye view

Our President Joni has a short business meeting

The Pitt's in yellow are now officially full timers!
Two identical new Endeavors, nice and shiny
Bonnie and Carol took off to look for fossils in the the creek.  Here is a look as some of what they found.

Carols' collection
A group of 8 of us got together and played a little cards this afternoon and then happy hour.

Happy hour

More Happy Hour
Bonnie and Carol made an Avocado dip thats a lot like a salsa.  It was a big hit and before you knew it it was time for dinner.  Wow lots of eating this weekend.  The main course was Turkey, it was delicious  lots of vegetables and the desserts were out of this world topped off with fresh pumpkin pie.

Tonight we are headed for Heron Night Lights.  Here are some shots from our walk through the woods at Heron.
At the entrance

Craig and Maria arrive in style

We all got night stick necklaces to wear, some made a halo out of it.

The Official Blue Heron

Sunday

This morning started with a bang around 5am.  Thats when the cold front came through with its thunderstorms.  Once they were past we slept in until 8.  Breakfast was at 8:30 so we had to hurry just a bit.  The campground was to do holding tank pump outs at 10am, but showed up shortly after 8.  So we got that taken care of for just 5 bucks.

Hooking up for the pump-out

The other end of the green hose
Craig had a nice surprise for us at breakfast.  We usually just have a continental breakfast on Sunday but today Craig made blueberry pancakes and they were delicious.  After breakfast everyone slowly began to break camp.  The Pitts were first to leave as they hoped to be in Michigan by the end of the day.  The rain held off while we packed but it was pretty wet.

Here is Craig loading up his Harley on his tow vehicle he pulls a nice 5th wheel with this tractor.

Bonnie and Carol to one last fossil hunting walk and then we headed home and Carol went sight seeing as she is officially on vacation.  The rain started just after we left Jamestown and followed us all the way up the Thruway and then all the way home.  Still raining as I backed into the driveway which made it hard to see.  We left everything in the MH and headed for the house.

The sun came out a couple hours later and so we went out and brought in the clothes and food.  The wet stuff is in the washer and I think we can relax the rest of the day.

Time to post this I hope you have enjoyed the report.

Thanks for checking in.
